Chanhassen
In 2009, Chanhassen was ranked as the second best place to live in the entire United States (http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2009/snapshots/PL2710918.html) and the best place to live in Minnesota. In 2007, Family Circle Magazine named Chanhassen as a top ten city to raise a family.
Why is Chanhassen recognized nationally as such a spectacular place to buy a home and raise a family? In addition to its beautiful lakefront real estate and lakeside property, its small-town atmosphere, and its thriving businesses, Chanhassen is home to 34 parks and 12 lakes: Christmas Lake, Harrison Lake, Lake Ann, Lake Lucy, Lotus Lake, Rice Lake, Rice Marsh Lake, Silver Lake, Lake Minnewashta, Lake Riley, Lake St. Joe, and Lake Susan. Whether you’re a first time buyer, looking for a townhome, and still asking how to buy a home for the first time, or you’re looking for a lakeside manor, Buy Sell Lease Real Estate is here to help you find the ideal home by the spectacular parks and lakes of the community of Chanhassen.
Chanhassen’s 34 parks make up over 800 acres in the community, including four beachside parks, six public beaches, a skate park, and a recreation center. Year round, the city maintains 80 miles of trails, ranging from pleasant afternoon strolls through the woods to thrilling hikes and challenging bike rides. Chanhassen’s keynote park is located right on Lake Anne, featuring non-motorized lakeshore, undeveloped lakeside property, and clean water. And with Chanhassen’s other five local public beaches, even in the summertime it is a serene place to relax.
In the winter, those eleven lakes become home to the community’s winter activities, including the February festival, ice-fishing contests, ice-skating, and other exciting community activities.
In addition to its beautiful lakes, trails, parks, and real estate, Chanhassen offers a number of entertainment venues for all interests. The renowned Chanhassen Dinner Theater offers delicious food and first-rate theater and musicals as the nation’s largest dinner theater and Minnesota’s largest privately owned restaurant. And in addition to the Chanhassen Dinner Theater, Chanhassen offers a variety of restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues even in the local area.
The city itself has an estimated 24,481 residents and 6,914 households, with 7,013 homes, houses, and housing units, and is home to a number of businesses, including AmericInn, Life Time Fitness, and Snap Fitness. Downtown Chanhassen offers great eating, great shopping, and great entertainment. With all its businesses, the city is thriving, with only a 6% unemployment rate during the 2009 recession, making it not only an ideal location to buy a home buy also an ideal location to find a job or make a corporate relocation.
But don’t let its thriving economy fool you: Chanhassen, while rapidly growing and expanding due to the increasing number of first time homebuyers and homeowners, maintains its small-town feel and community. Although it was settled as early as the 1850’s, when it was given its name from the Dakota (Sioux) word meaning “sugar maple tree,” up until the 1960’s it remained a quiet, serene farming community. In the 1960’s it added its downtown shopping strip and quickly developed its parks and lakes and recreation.
The community continues to develop today, while maintaining its small-town charm. Whether you’re a first-time homebuyer looking to buy a townhome and townhouse or an experienced homeowner looking for property management, Buy Sell Lease will help you learn why Chanhassen was rated the second best place to live in the entire US.
