Crystal
The hometown motto of Crystal is “Where family and community are number one!” It’s certainly an appropriate motto in this small community: Nationally recognized schools and abundant parkland make Crystal a great place to buy a house and raise a family. And the city’s small size – not even six square miles – enables its strong sense of community and small town charm. On top of that, Crystal’s proximity to the city and all the entertainment venues in Crystal itself make Crystal a great spot for fun. Buying a home in Crystal means great parks, great schools, and lots to do, but most of all, it means a wonderful community.
That wonderful community hosts a ton of fun events throughout the year. As a result, Crystal can truly brand itself as a small town with charm and a pervasive sense of community. Crystal, with its small size, can and does promote its sense of community and friendliness through hosting fun events throughout the year for all its residents of all ages. From fireworks to farmers markets, from music in the park to water park events, Crystal hosts events all the time to make those who just recently bought a house in Crystal feel at home. At the end of July, Crystal Frolics features a gigantic fireworks show, a parade, a classic car show, live music, a Crystal Ball, a carnival with rides and games, and much, much more! Throughout the summer, Becker Park hosts live music in the park and family-friendly movies in the park. In the winter, sledding events and visits with Santa bring residents and homeowners together. Whatever the time of year, Crystal always has something fun going on.
Of course, Crystal’s community events aren’t the only things going on. Those who purchase a home in Crystal will be happy to find out that even for such a small town, there’s a ton of things to do in the area. Hundreds of shops and restaurants in the area will satisfy diverse tastes. Dine-in movie theatres, bowling alleys, water parks, and live theatres all give residents a great way to spend an evening.
And if that’s not enough, the five-square-mile-city is home to a whopping total of 26 parks. In light of the city’s small size it’s a very large number of parks. In fact, it’s more parks per square mile than almost any other suburb of Minneaplis or St. Paul! So wherever you buy a home in Crystal, you’re likely to be just a couple blocks from the nearest park. Playgrounds, picnics, pick-up basketball games or tennis matches, and biking and running are all conveniently close to your home!
But those aren’t the only good reasons to buy a home in Crystal. Those who buy a house in Crystal are happy to know that Crystal is home to some of the best public schools in Minnesota. In fact, Robbinsdale Area Schools District, Crystal’s main public school district, had both its high schools – both Robbinsdale Cooper High School and Robbinsdale Armstrong High School – featured in Newsweek as two of America’s top public high schools. Crystal families have the option of sending their children to Spanish immersion schools or to send their children to private Catholic schools, in addition to being able to place their children in nationally ranked public schools. So one of the best reasons to buy a home in New Hope is the great schools.
In short, Crystal is a wonderful place to buy a home. Abundant, high-quality parks and outstanding schools as well as suburban safety makes buying a new home in Crystal a great decision for families. And with Crystal’s huge host of things to do and events to attend, as well as its short distance from downtown Minneapolis, makes it a great place for adults to have fun as well. Purchasing a house in Crystal is a great decision, whether you’re looking for a family-friendly environment, small-town charm, or tons to do.

While other Minneapolis-St. Paul suburbs can claim a small-town charm or a certain friendliness, most of those cities are far too large to claim such a sense of community. But Crystal, with its small size, actually can and does promote its sense of community and friendliness through hosting fun events throughout the year for all its residents of all ages. From parades to movies in the park, from fireworks to farmers markets, Crystal hosts events all the time to make those who just recently bought a house in Crystal feel at home and make friends and to give longtime residents a chance for fun. Here are a few examples of the exciting community events throughout the year:

- Summertime is the best time of the year for Becker Park, as that’s the time of the year it begins to host music in the park or family-friendly movies in the park.

These four events are just a very small sampling of what’s going on. Other events, from Independence Day fireworks to antique car parades to rodeos and more can be found at times throughout the year.
