When you are looking for a lake home in the Twin Cities it is most likely that you will have many many options, being as Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes. Just because you are looking for a home in the inner city area, or in the suburbs, doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of lakes to choose from. If you are looking to be very close to the downtown Minneapolis/St. Paul area, then check out Lake Calhoun or Lake Harriet. Both lakes offer great amenities to their residents. With public beaches, plenty of walking and running trails, sand volleyball courts, and more, there is always something to keep you busy during the summer months. And even in the winter months there are plenty of community events going on, and in the end you are just a short drive into the downtown area.

Now if being so close to the downtown area isn’t exactly what you are looking for then check out some of the outer suburban lakes. Medicine Lake, Lake Minnetonka, and White Bear Lake are all great examples of these. These lakes provide for some excellent shoreline real estate. With homes ranging from low cost to high in cost, there is practically something out there for anyone. The lakes found in the outer suburbs will each have different things to offer their residents. The biggest differences will most likely be their locations. Depending on what cities you are near will effect some of the local shopping, outdoor activities, and more. This is when it will come down to personal preference on your part.
