Lake Elmo
Lake Elmo presents a unique marriage between beautiful rural countryside and suburban convenience. Located just southwest of Stillwater and all its conveniences and located fifteen miles from St. Paul, the city presents the opportunities of large suburbs but maintains the privacy and country feel of rural farmland. Up until recently, Lake Elmo consisted entirely of farmland, and today the city retains its bucolic charm.
Lake Elmo offers a large amount of open space and land for its 8,500 residents. The town is fairly large, offering 25 square miles of land. With its namesake lake and a number of smaller lakes, the town also offers one-and-a-half square miles of water, compromising 6.5% of the city’s total area – making both beautiful farmland and lakeside homes a possibility in Lake Elmo.
But don’t let its bucolic charm fool you: Lake Elmo affords residents a number of conveniences in the nearby town of Stillwater. A short five to ten minutes is all it takes to reach Stillwater’s historic downtown center, with its shopping sites, historic bookstores, antique shops, restaurants, and more. Lake Elmo residents thus enjoy their privacy and open spaces while still only a few miles from shopping centers and suburban conveniences. The St. Croix River Valley and Stillwater’s historic sites make a great nearby stop for Lake Elmo residents.
And in addition to being so close to Stillwater, Lake Elmo homes are also only a fifteen-minute drive from St. Paul. The well-maintained parkland provides for organized sports for children and adult residents, relaxation, physical activity and exercise, casual play, nature appreciation and a gathering place for residents. Each park offers open space and recreational facilities, and the large number of parks and of parkland affords Lake Elmo residents the convenience of a nearby park wherever they live. The large number of parks also enables each park to be highly distinguished from each other, offering unique amenities: whether it’s a picnic by the lake or playground amenities or a running or biking trail, Lake Elmo parkland offers any number of recreational opportunities in its beautiful, open spaces.
And aside from those open spaces, as its name would suggest, Lake Elmo has a lot of Lakeland to offer its residents. The Lake Elmo Park Reserve protects the parkland that surrounds Lake Elmo and Eagle Point Lake, which wrap around the south of the city. In the northwest, Lake Demontreville, Olson Lake and Lake Jane provide three large lakes nearby Lake Elmo residents, providing Lake Elmo homeowners with nearby recreational lakeshore for fishing, swimming and picnics by the lake. In the east of Lake Elmo, Sunfish Lake and Clear Lake provide two more recreational lake outlets for Lake Elmo homeowners. Besides these major lakes, the city includes a number of smaller lakes and ponds scattered throughout its beautiful rural countryside.

- Gondola Romantica: Gondola Romantica offers a unique experience – romantic cruises on authentic Venetian Gondolas along the scenic St. Croix River.
