Little Canada
Little Canada is a tiny little town of just under 10,000 people spread out over four square miles, making it one of the few cities in the Minneapolis-St. Paul suburbs that truly can claim small-town charm and friendliness. Just five travel miles north of downtown St. Paul and eleven miles northeast of downtown Minneapolis, Little Canada has a bustling urban feel as well as a small-town charm. That unique blend of urban excitement and small town friendliness makes it a fantastic place to purchase a house or home.
Perhaps the best reason to buy a house in Little Canada is its location. At Buy Sell Lease Real Estate, we know that the adage “Location, location, location” rings true, and homes in Little Canada are no exception. A quick ten-minute drive will get you to all the excitement of St. Paul. A ten mile drive will get you into Minneapolis. That means that buying a home in Little Canada gets you the peace and friendliness of a small town but the excitement and fun of the cities. All the restaurants, shops, entertainment venues, nightlife opportunities, concerts, and of course, employment opportunities are only a stone’s throw away from any Little Canada house or home.
But that’s not the only part that makes Little Canada such an ideal location. The friendly, small city is over 10% water by area! There are three huge lakes within the city: Gervais Lake, Savage Lake, and Round Lake. Besides theses three large lakes, there are a number of smaller lakes and ponds in the area. So those looking to buy a lakehome will find it easy to do in Little Canada. And even for those who aren’t looking to purchase a lakehome will be happy knowing that there will always be public beaches just a little ways away and a number of beautiful lakes in the area to create a peaceful, scenic atmosphere.
Speaking of a peaceful, scenic atmosphere, Little Canada, despite its extremely small size, still managed to squeeze in eight large parks. Spooner Park, one of Little Canada’s largest recreational parks, is a 25-acre community park with everything a park could ever dream of – five softball fields, two lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, a sand volleyball court, a soccer field, 2 picnic shelters with benches, trails, and more. The Gervais Lake Beach features a huge stretch of public beach area as well as picnic areas and playgrounds. Other parks feature nature areas, wildlife preserves, biking or jogging trails, ice skating rinks for the winter, and much more.
But so far we have made it seem like you have to get out of Little Canada to enjoy Little Canada. And while being just ten minutes from St. Paul or Minneapolis certainly is hugely convenient, Little Canada has so much to offer that it’s easy to find yourself staying inside the city all the time. Scores of shops and restaurants, malls, and entertainment venues will keep you in the city. There’s plenty to do – grab a bite to eat with your family at one of the many family restaurants, get a drink and watch the game at one of the local bars, watch a movie or see a show. On special occasions, go out and enjoy the wonderful Little Canada community at a special city event. Canadian Days, the city’s largest festival, is held each year at the end of July. Come out and enjoy the fireworks, the carnival rides, the live music; visit a petting zoo; join the parades or hang out at the beer gardens; watch the classic car shows; join in the medallion hunt, or do any other number of exciting things. Little Canada is always teeming with exciting things that will surprise you with how often they keep you from driving into the city.
