As the Twin Cities suburbs began their rapid expansion in the 1960’s, Long Lake saw the construction of shopping malls and other stores as the US economy spread out to the farther suburbs of the Twin Cities. Thus, while it may be a further drive from your Long Lake home, it is arguably worth the slightly longer drive.
Wayzata Yacht Club: Wayzata Yacht Club is home to one of the United States’ largest sailboat racing programs with a number of Lake Minnetonka racing programs as well as a few Lake Superior programs. The club is also home to a nationally recognized sailing school, with summer day camps and youth racing programs. Any Long Lake home or family with a passion for sailing and boating should certainly look into the community at the Wayzata Yacht Club.
