Homeowners looking to buy a Twin Cities home will find all kinds of variety in North St. Paul, from lakeside and lakefront homes to large ranch-style homes to Victorian homes and downtown flats – North St. Paul has something for everyone, wrapped up in its exciting urban environment.

As its name suggests, North St. Paul is right near the boundaries of St. Paul and Minneapolis. But as its own city, North St. Paul has a character all its own, marked by its unique history and thriving commercial and industrial economy. The town was first founded in 1870 as a transport hub for the grain industries and riverside commercial areas that were developing along the Mississippi River. As St. Paul and Minneapolis developed, so too did North St. Paul, and today, the city still maintains its historic downtown area. The city’s brick storefronts distinguish it and give it a feeling all its own, differentiating the city from the rest of the urban sprawl.

Thus North St. Paul has a rich history of a strong economy. Today, North St. Paul is home to hundreds of businesses and is connected to the rich, varied economy of St. Paul and the Twin Cities. Finding a job is easy in North St. Paul, as the town has a number of entrepreneurs and corporations, ranging from insurance companies, legal services, financial services, health services and more. Residents enjoy the local shopping stores as well as the many, varied restaurants.

The city, despite being a small urban town, offers three major parks and the Southwood nature preserve.

The city also affords its residents a number of educational possibilities. Even within its own limits, North St. Paul is home to three public elementary schools and a public high school, and is also home to St. Peter Catholic school and Christ Evangelical Lutheran School. Residents can also take advantage of the strong educations to be found nearby in the surrounding cities.

Together with its education, its recreation, and its feel, North St. Paul offers a change of pace from nearby St. Paul and Minneapolis. Though its proximity to St. Paul affords its residents a number of opportunities, the city itself maintains a small-town charm. The city’s rich history, dating all the way back to when St. Paul was first founded by French explorers, continues up through this day, and one can feel the town’s historic pride in it’s architecture and in its downtown area. Residents and homeowners in North St. Paul enjoy an exciting urban environment in a safe, small town suburb that blends urban excitement with a historicism and small town charm.
