Roseville
Bordering both St. Paul and Minneapolis, Roseville is an energetic city known for its excellent business climate, its safe neighborhoods, its outstanding parks and its excellent schools.
The city is one of the Twin Cities’ smaller suburbs, at just over 10 total square miles, but it nonetheless has a vibrant economy. Roseville was the home of the first Target store in the United States, home of the first Best Buy in the United States, home of the first Barnes & Noble outside New York City, home of the first McDonald’s and first Dairy Queen restaurant in Minnesota, and more.
But there’s much more to Roseville’s economy than its history – today the city is home to two large shopping malls: the Rosedale Center and the Har Mar Mall. Per capita retail spending is some of the highest in the state of Minnesota. The city is also home to the most restaurants per capita in the Twin Cities, making it a great place for those who love eating out to buy a home.
Today, the city’s great location between Minneapolis and St. Paul and its exceptionally low property taxes (amongst the lowest in the entire Twin Cities) continue to attract businesses and homeowners. The city is home to Fantasy Flight Games, a major board game publisher, as well as Old Dutch Foods, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota State Lottery. This, in combination with its many, many small businesses – including its many restaurants – combine to give Roseville an entrepreneurial atmosphere and make it a great place to find a job and buy a home.
Of course, there’s a lot more to Roseville than its great and many businesses. The city is also home to a number of parks and recreational outlets. The city is home to a number of lakes that provide an outlet for summer recreation of all sorts. In the winter, lakes and ponds are converted into ice skating rinks, in addition to the city’s other ice skating structures, providing year round recreation for the whole family. The city is home to a number of parks, as well, such as the Central Park and the Longton Lake Park. Roseville continues to develop its park system and recreational outlets. The city features many miles of trails through the city’s ponds and lakes for running and biking, giving Roseville homeowners another recreational opportunity in addition to its summer lakes and winter ice rinks.
Roseville is also home to a fantastic schooling system, with public schools served by the Roseville Area Schools District. Within the district there are seven public elementary schools, along with a public middle school and a public high school. Roseville is home to two private schools: Concordia Academy, a private school associated with the Lutheran Church, and St. Rose of Lima Catholic School. In addition to these public and private schools, Roseville is also home to the Minneapolis Business College, National American University and Northwestern College, giving the entire city a very collegial air. The academic atmosphere is supplemented by the Roseville Library, the second largest and the busiest library in the entire Twin Cities (the only larger library being the downtown St. Paul library).
Thus Roseville offers a large number of exciting possibilities to those looking to purchase a home in the Twin Cities. Roseville’s beautiful location, with its parks, trails and lakes, makes it a beautiful place to call home. Its location, while beautiful, is truly convenient, being located right along both St. Paul and Minneapolis. Its outstanding educational quality makes its homes a great place for families, and its flourishing business community makes its homes a great place to workers, business owners and entrepreneurs. There’s truly something for everyone in buying a home in Roseville.
